ABOUT THE APPEAL

Commemorate - Celebrate - Inspire

The RAF100 Appeal is a joint venture between the Royal Air Force and four major RAF charities - the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, the Royal Air Forces Association, the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust and the Royal Air Force Museum. The aim of the Appeal is to raise money for the RAF Family and to create a lasting legacy as we celebrate 100 years of the Royal Air Force in 2018. Find out more about the legacy of the RAF100 Appeal.

Numerous activities and events will be taking place across the UK from 2017 until the end of September 2018. The Appeal forms part of the wider RAF100 initiative that seeks to commemorate the achievements of the RAF and all those who have served while at the same time celebrating the vital contribution that the RAF continues to make, and inspire both the public and the RAF Family as we look forward to the next 100 years. A MESSAGE FROM AIR CHIEF MARSHAL SIR STEPHEN HILLIER, CHIEF OF THE AIR STAFF

The celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Air Force is an outstanding opportunity to celebrate our history and our remarkable achievements over the last 100 years, and to embrace future opportunities. One hundred years of the Royal Air Force reminds us that we should commemorate with pride those who have served, thank those who serve today, and keep inspiring those who might serve in the future.

The Centenary is also about education, enabling our proud servicemen and women to inform the country about how we operate today across the globe, and how we as an Air Force strive for excellence in all we do and deliver. Equally as important is innovation - this has always been at the heart of the Royal Air Force. We live in an ever more technological and information driven age and our aim is to continue to be at the forefront of innovation, encouraging both the current and next generation to be inspired by the RAF and our endeavours.

The celebration of 100 years of the Royal Air Force will highlight and strengthen our partnerships, both current and future, and we embrace this landmark anniversary as the opportunity to demonstrate our talented servicemen and women to the country and to the world.

A MESSAGE FROM SIMON COLLINS, CHAIRMAN OF THE RAF100 APPEAL

The RAF and the four main RAF charities are combining as one for this unique moment in history to commemorate the past 100 years since the formation of the RAF and look forward with confidence to a future of hope and opportunity for the entire RAF Family.

Founded on April 1st 1918 at the end of the First World War, the RAF is the oldest independent air force in the world. In 2018, our nation will come together to recognise 100 years' worth of dedication, sacrifice and achievements. This is why the members of the RAF100 Appeal have joined forces with a mission to ensure that all members of the RAF Family - past, present and future - are honoured, supported and inspired. From the youngest child to the oldest veteran, those currently serving their country and their brave families at home, the RAF100 Appeal will support tens of thousands of individuals, building on the successes of the past centenary and leaving a lasting legacy for years to come.
