BAE Systems Flies the Flag

BAE Systems is delighted to sponsor the RAF 100 Appeal to celebrate the RAF’s Centenary in 2018. BAE Systems has enjoyed a long and close partnership with the Royal Air Force dating back to its formation in 1918 as the world’s first independent Air Force.

From building early manned aircraft and the iconic Supermarine Spitfire to delivering the Tornado and Eurofighter Typhoon, BAE Systems has worked proudly with the RAF throughout its 100 year history. The Company continues to provide cutting edge technologies and innovative support solutions while investing in the technical skills needed to continually lead the market through innovation.

The RAF 100 programme will showcase the very best of the RAF in its centenary year and proceeds raised from events will go towards the Royal Air Force’s four charities (RAF Benevolent Fund, the Royal Air Forces Association, the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust and the RAF Museum) which all help young people into STEM careers, support serving personnel and provide initiatives and care for veterans.

Martin Taylor, Managing Director, Combat Air, BAE Systems Military Air & Information, said:

“BAE Systems and its predecessors have a strong heritage with the Royal Air Force, working in partnership since its formation to provide the Royal Air Force with a tactical advantage through advanced technologies and defence solutions. In the RAF’s centenary year, we are proud to support RAF 100 which will commemorate and celebrate its past and present service personnel, while continuing to invest in and inspire future generations.”

Simon Collins, Chairman of the RAF 100 Appeal, said:

“The RAF 100 Appeal is delighted to welcome BAE Systems as a Headline sponsor to support the charitable aims of the RAF 100 Appeal and help celebrate the RAF’s Centenary. The RAF and the four major RAF charities are combining as one for this unique moment in history to commemorate the past 100 years since the formation of the RAF and look forward with confidence to a future of hope and opportunity for the entire RAF family.”

BAE Systems designs, manufactures, upgrades, and supports combat and trainer aircraft for customers around the world and supplies electronics equipment across a range of military and commercial aircraft.

The RAF100 Appeal will support tens of thousands of individuals, building on the successes of the past centenary and leaving a lasting legacy for years to come.
